“I Object: Memoirs of a Sugargiver”.
Peter Brandt performing at “PUBLIC POOL #1 le mythe est une parole”, organized by C-E-A, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, 2016.

I Object: Memoirs of a Sugargiver
The performance “I Object: Memoirs of a Sugargiver” consists of a large projection of my photo “Marilyn & Me” and me wearing a half-mask cut out from the same photograph, reading extracts of Marilyn’s 6 page letter to her psychiatrist, which she wrote when she was admitted to Payne Whitney in New York (a mental hospital).

The performance fused “the cinematic face as object” with (subjective) meanings/reflections on life from the most objectified women in the 20th century performed by a man.
