“Only the sun was witness”, two books with drawings, poems and texts by refugees from many different countries.

Only the sun was witness
The work is based on testimonies from refugees and was a collaboration with Jelling Asylum Centre, Denmark. The media coverage of refugees mostly present refugees as a group, not as individuals and I was interested in hearing and seeing their stories about their escape, life in their home countries and hope for the uncertain future.

In the workshop they made drawings, wrote poems and other texts and I had them bound in two custom made books, so they are presented as valuable objects, a kind of choir of voices of stories, testimonies that seldom enter the public debate.
