“Yes and More No”, hanging banner, applicated fabric, embroidery, oil paint, pearls, pencil, wood, stones from the crime scene, 193x155x2 cm. 2016-17.

Yes and More No
In 2002, I was on a residency at The Danish Institute in Rome and one day was I assaulted and beaten up close to the institute. That experience of being violated has made me analyse questions about trauma, violence and memory. The first project was “I Died In Italy But No One Knows It” (2007-10) and later in “Post Trauma Documents” (2011-15)

In 2016 did I go back to The Danish Institute in Rome and had a two-month residency there, my aim being to set myself back to the place of the assault, to feel, think and reflect over the past 15 years since the assault took place.

I collected stones, plants and garbage from the crime scene which will be incorporated in the works. I see these new works of mine as dealing with questions of spiritual death due to being violated, states of emotional beings…. beyond language.
