The Order of EMPATHY
2016 - 17
14 years after I was attacked close to The Danish Institute in Rome, did I go back there for a 2 – month residency in 2016. I wanted to see how it felt to be at the exact same place where my life changed dramatically due to the assault and my later diagnosed brain injury. I spend the days in the studio hand-sewing the 209 silk and cotton pads. I pinned the fabric pieces to the wall, collected a stone from the crime scene and placed in on a wooden block from South Africa before Apartheid ended.
