Rehearsal (sacre de printemps)

Rehearsal (sacre du printemps) is a custom-made box with 45 performative photographs of me doing a re-enactment of Vladiaslav Nijinksy’s ballet Le Sacre du Printemps. The ballet premiered in 1913 at Théatre des Champs-Èlyssès in Paris and it caused a riot at the opening night.
In preparation of the work did I study Nijinksy’s choreography as well as digging into more recent versions of the ballet (Glen Tetly, Paul Taylor, Pina Bausch, Michael Clark) and finally improvising the whole ballet at a studio at Dansehallerne in Copenhagen.
The work was part of my solo exhibition Nijinsky Notes at The Danish Graphic Association, Copenhagen, in 2015, which was part of A Feminist Culture Reader.
